After 20 incredible seasons, Drew Brees is retiring.
A surefire Hall of Famer, Brees has graced football fields for parts of three decades, orchestrating a successful career between the San Diego Chargers and New Orleans Saints. He is expected to exchange his cleats for a microphone after the 2020 season comes to an end, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

An Unforgettable Career
Brees will finish with 287 career appearances, assuming he takes the field in Week 17. He enters Sunday at 171-114 with an additional 8-8 record in the playoffs. The former second-round pick has 80,157 career passing yards, 568 touchdowns, and just 243 interceptions. He is a 13-time Pro Bowler and one-time First-Team All-Pro. His career features various other accolades, including two Offensive Player of the Year titles and one Super Bowl ring.
Back in April, just weeks after signing a two-year extension with the Saints, Brees inked a contract with NBC that gave his broadcasting rights to the network. A football mastermind, Brees will take his talents to the broadcast booth as soon as he retires.
While Brees continues to play at a high level, he turns 42 years old on Jan. 15 and has taken a beating this season. Brees fractured 11 ribs earlier in the season, and while he returned after a few weeks of being sidelined, football is clearly taking a toll on the veteran.
Drew Brees is a true competitor who will forever remain in the top tier of NFL quarterbacks.
The Saints take on the Carolina Panthers in Week 17 and have already locked up a playoff spot. A win coupled with a win from the Seattle Seahawks and a loss by the Green Bay Packers would give New Orleans a first-round bye. Any other scenario would put the Saints in line to play next Saturday or Sunday.
