The Detroit Lions are in agreement with star defensive end Trey Flowers on a five-year contract, according to a report from ESPN insider Adam Schefter. https://twitter.com/AdamSchefter/status/1105188280289689601 Schefter also reported the deal will pay Flowers more than $16 million annually, meaning the final value will exceed $80 million. Flowers, who spent the first four years of his career with the New Englan Patriots, was expected to earn $15.7 million in 2019 after being projected to sign a five-year, $78.9 million deal this offseason. Flowers started all 15 of the games he played in last season, forcing three fumbles while making 57 tackles and seven-and-a-half sacks. Flowers is the third New England Patriot to join the Lions organization today, following in the footsteps of Danny Amendola and Justin Coleman. That trio joins former Patriots defensive coordinator Matt Patricia and scout Dan Quinn in Detroit; those two men are now the Lions' head coach and general manager, respectively. https://twitter.com/andersenreports/status/1105190731239641089 After a poor 2018 season, things appear to be trending up for the Lions. It's only Day One of the legal tampering period, and the team has already made three crucial signings; perhaps the best is yet to come for the Lions.
