New York Jets to Sign Receivers Jamison Crowder and Josh Bellamy

The New York Jets agreed to contracts with two free agents, signing external receivers Jamison Crowder and Josh Bellamy. The Duke product, who was a 2015 fourth-round selection, is only 25, so if he can avoid injuries he should be a valuable asset to any team. Meanwhile, Bellamy, 29, and the Jets are in the final stages of hammering out an agreement that will be worth up to $7 million over the course of two seasons, with $2.75 million guaranteed, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. https://twitter.com/RapSheet/status/1105265673876451328 The undrafted Louisville product spent 2012 and 2013 with the Chiefs and Redskins, respectively, but was never targeted. He joined the Bears in 2014 but was unable to haul in his one target before his production increased greatly in 2015 when he appeared in all 16 games. Since then, he has appeared in 63 of the Bears' 64 regular season games, making 14 starts. Last year, he caught 14 passes for 117 yards and a touchdown. While the Jets certainly have a lot of work to do, they are on the right path. The additions of two solid receivers show that the team is building around their franchise quarterback with their sights set on playoff football within a few years.
